Media, which tend to stick to the seal, make deposits on the sealing elements or have to be cleaned periodically when installed, require special constructions. The constructional design of harmonized seals pursues two targets: On the one hand the spring which presses the seal ring, should be kept away from the medium and on the other hand a preferably smooth surface of the outer diameter is aimed.
